Ac Thermostat

Ac ThermostatAir conditioner does not turn on? Check thermostat

At home during the summer there are few situations worse than having your air conditioner out. Even with multiple ceiling fans, the comfort of an air conditioner is sorely missed. The unfortunate experience can be very costly to repair, but we've compiled a list with some steps to help you if you encounter problems with your central air conditioning system automatically. Please review and follow the following steps before calling a repair specialist CA. Hopefully it's just the thermostat and you can save money and feel good to do a little DIY (Do It Yourself).

A) Make sure the air conditioner is turned on and set the thermostat to "cool". Verify that the temperature reading is well below the actual temperature or actual temperature of the room. Five to ten degrees should be sufficient.

2) Your central air conditioner should have its own dedicated circuit of 240 volts. Locate the main electrical box (or panel) generally located on an inside wall of the garage (in old houses, it may be located outside). Arrival of a circuit breaker or fuse. If the breaker is tripped or blown air, reset or replace the fuse.

3) Make sure the power switch of the furnace is in position. Then, to find a switch mounted on the outdoor unit. It is the capacitor on / off switch. Make sure it is off. Now make sure the circuit breaker 240 volts, which is next to the compressor (it should be in a metal box usually located in the outer wall of the house next to the unit) is always on. In some cases, the circuit breaker is a switch or a removable circuit. Still, make sure it is switched off or out of position.

4) Double-check that the power of your air conditioner is turned off. Now, head back inside and check the thermostat. Remove the outer case, on the thermostat. It usually snaps off or unscrews easily. Once open, unscrew the cable from the Y and back on.

5) Now we can perform the troubleshooting tests. Take the wire by its rubber coating. Do not touch metal with your fingers. It may shock you. Take the exposed metal portion of the wire and hold Y to R terminal for several minutes. If the compressor starts, you have a faulty thermostat. What is fairly inexpensive. It is recommended that you call an expert qualified air conditioning repair. If the compressor does not kick, it unfortunately means that this is not the thermostat, which means it can be a number of different problems. Turn off and contact an expert qualified air conditioning repair.
