Carrier Heaters

Carrier HeatersCarrier heating code 14?

Help. Our carrier heating displays a code 14. What do we do?

On my Weathermaker Carrier, the code 14 is "ignition lockout". He also sez that the unit will reset after three hours ... a good time if it's really cold outside Inho.

Anyway, ours has had this code before and I fixed it by taking a fine grain sandpaper (like 500 grain) and used to remove oxidation on the probe by the igniter . If you look at your furnace where the burners are lit when there will be a thin rod which is in flames. This rod is a sensor that allows the system to know there is a fire and the gas ignited. If it does not feel the fire, he turns the burner so that you will not unburned gas from escaping into your home. The problem is that the probe is covered with oxidation to be in the fire detection and stops. By removing the oxidation, you can once again functioning.

Just do not be too aggressive at removing oxidation. A very light sanding with sandpaper fine grain should do the trick.
