Where can I find the furnace filter for my heating system and how to replace it? We have gas central heating in our house and is operated by a More Braemar Chronotherm IV. On the thermostat continues to blink the word filter. I do not know exactly what that means but I guess that means to clean or something. Can anyone tell me where I can find this filter? What it looks like and where is it usually? So once (and if) I find it, how can I clean it?
Thank you
The filter may be in the return air or vent ... those who are the largest openings, or in the ceiling or walls. Can floor if you are ungraded. It could also be directly under the air handler in the bottom of the fan.
The light is just a reminder. But it is very important to replace the filter every month or two, or buy high quality filters and will last up to six months, depending on the cleanliness of your air.
You can buy most any hardware filters of appropriate size, such as Lowe's, Home Depot or Ace.
The ones you find at Wal-Mart cheapies and do not own the security.
The oven is usually the position so that the filter is inside the easiest to obtain, from the panel. The first time, you should ask someone to show you how to remove and replace, because sometimes they are a bit difficult.
The furnace filter should be replaced buy the same size, usually 16x20 or 16x25, but there are many other formats.
When you replace, you must be sure the arrow on the side is facing the fdirection of airflow.
The "filter" on the screen of the thermostat is a reminder to clean or replace the filter. The filter may be located in a grid on the wall or ceiling in a rack in the duct to the furnace or inside the blower compartment of the furnace. For more information, see my source.
It is quite possible if a heating system only that you do not have a filter, but be sure and look real good around the others have said.
