I have several windows. As the weather gets warmer outside .. the sun is very hot my room. I thought I read somewhere to use light colored curtains dark, as opposed to colored curtains. Is it true that? What curtains will help keep my apartment warm?

No draped help. light colored curtains keep the sun from fading your furniture, carpets, etc. Once the sun hits the window, it is too late. Hanging roll-up blinds in front of the window from the outside will be lower than the internal temperature of at least 10 degrees.

Black. They absorb heat.
