Dressers

DressersI have two different colored buffets that I want to paint it black?

I recently moved in with my boyfriend and we both brought our own furniture. We want the bedroom furniture to match, and so we want to paint the two chests, while we are both black. A buffet is a light wood and the other is dark cherry. How can we paint them so that they turn the same shade of black and look as if they were together?

first thing to do is remove all the handles, then wash down the furniture with a solution of 1 cup ammonia to 1 gallon of water This will remove all dirt and old wax or polish to dry hrs.get least 24 good oil primer and ask them if that gray seems to be smeared with paint and even then, if not apply a second coat of primer and paint base oil in a black paint in a satin finish with two coats and let dry 24 hours. between two layers of spray paint, then using spray all handles and knobs of the same color. If you follow these steps they reveal a lot and you will have no problems with chips. Good luck to you both on your "new movement"

Do you think they are black or wood grain to show through? It makes a huge difference on how you do this project.

If you really want to paint, as you say in your question, you should sand them smooth and then apply a coat of primer. If they are painted, you need to sand over this distance.

Then paint them with the same paint.

You do not want to paint the wood, you want to stain. As one is black cherry, I would stain both a cherry very dark, almost black. It will be very aesthetic. You can see samples and talk to your local hardware store. Here is some information about the coloring:

If you do not want to go through the hassle, just sell the ones you have on craigslist or something, and try to find a cheap set to buy with the money you get dressers. =)

EDIT: I mean you can paint, but it is often difficult to obtain a uniform layer and make it look nice and even. Staining resembles much better in the end if you plan to keep together for some time or later sell on the road.

Firstly, the sanding with 100 grit sandpaper, then go over them with 220 grit paper. Put on a coat of primer if you want, then a coat of brush or spray on the black paint. If you're spraying, do lightly even in the blows, then apply additional coats.

honestly go to Home Depot and ask one of the people there, they will give you a definitive answer. But yes, you want to paint mark. Can be placed on reflection as well, I do not remember the top of my head right now, but ask anyone who knows where you go and buy the painting. gl, 0
