Electric Heater Thermostat

Electric Heater ThermostatQuestion electric water heater thermostat replace it?

I need to know if when replacing electric water heater thermostat with a screw that is compatible (not exactly the same thermostat). Do I have to worry about the earth and electric son in the right place or they can be reversed without a problem. If you do not know the difference between the son and want to tell me that AC is symmetric and please do not respond. This is the thermostat at the bottom of the heater, not the one with the Reset button.

The thermostat is just a switch. When the tank reachs the right temperature switch opens cutting power to the heating coils in the tank. When the tank cools, the switch closes and electricity are heating coils will heat the tank. I does not matter which terminal is son, the thermostat (switch) continues to function properly.

I heard that the "bottom" subunit is much more "forgiving" quen "up" unit.

(I paid $ 85 for what I suspect is a plumber sanding contacts in the "up" the drive and reinstall ... but being as it does the job, I said "ok")

and I think the ground "and" power son are more commonly known as "hot" and "return" ... generally "hot" is in black and "return" is in white or blue ...

"Sol" is green ... almost always, unless the program was originally installed,, uhhh ... not sure

success

While the earth is the right place, the other 2 did not matter, it's just a switch.

sorry, but I do not know how
