| MarketplaceFisher Wood Stove Does anyone know how I can find info on my wood stove Fisher.? My husband and I just bought a wood stove old fisherman. I'm looking for how old it is and other info about this ... cannot find anything online .... nobody knows anything about them mine has a star on the front with 76 in the stars and the trees of the fur on the front of them. Wondering if they still make them and how old mine is Fisher Stoves are not paid. Here is some information I found online, plus a link (below) to a good forum on wood burning ... people on the forum might be able to help you if you have further questions. I remember the stoves, they had cute names like Fisher Baby Bear (small), Mama Bear, etc., and have been very good heaters.
************************* Bob Fisher has designed the Fisher stove in the seventies, in Springfield, Oregon. Over the years, Fisher Stoves has become very popular, particularly because of the crisis of Arab oil. The Fisher Stove pioneer safety standards Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and Canadian Standards Association (CSA). The stove manufactured in the United States or Canada were labeled, UL, CSA, or WH (Warnock Hersey) on the back. The stoves, which were manufactured by Fisher before 1980 were installed using building codes. Inside cabins, they had to be kept 36 inches away from combustible walls.
Bob Fisher has discovered that the wood burning fire places, so large in use was wasteful. So, he welded iron and sealed the old chimney, leaving only a six-inch opening in the chimney outlet. The A-frame could be heated entirely with these stoves and flame coming out of the pan can be controlled. The stove can be used for cooking. The stoves were made from heavy steel plates ΒΌ "and 5 / 16 inch thick, while the doors were made of cast iron with model names such as" Papa Bear, Mama Bear " "Grandpa Bear" and "Baby Bear" printed on them.
Later in the mid-1980s, antique wood stoves were replaced by clean wood stove. The wood stove previously created by Bob Fisher has published about 50-80 grams of smoke for every kilogram of wood that was burned. The new clean-burning stove, also designed by Bob Fisher, published less than 6 grams of smoke on a per kilogram of wood burned. These new clean-burning stoves are also known as EPA stoves.
Although stoves designed by Bob Fisher are not manufactured more, they are still sold as commodities of the era and have become collectibles.
Link to the forum: http://hearth.com/forums.html I have a 1893 Grand Andes and love. Try searching for "old stove". There are some good sites that have to sell. Maybe you will see one like you there. I doubt they are still made. You can buy new ones that are a combo wood / gas, wood / electric, but I do not think the woods are gone. Posted on August 4, 2010.
