Why is there a pump on my hot water tank? On my desk heating system, we have a hot water cylinder indirect. On the cylinder, it has an inlet pipe supplying water in the cold. It also appears that a pump to pump water from the top of the bottle into the inlet pipe of cold water.
What is the function of this pump? Is it fair to pass hot water at the bottom of the bottle?
It is a circulation pump for central heating. A cylinder indirect coil of copper inside the cylinder that heats the hot water and central heating. No way can intemix these waters. Central heating water running inside the coil in the tank for heating water and central heating. Your system also has two motorized valves to This lets you choose the heating and hot water, or just hot water, heating or simply only.There is impossible that the water can be pumped into the pipe Fill with cold water.

A pump is generally used to circulate the heat cycle a heating system, or to help the flow of water where gravity would be against it.
I looked at a few sites worth reading about heating systems that can be useful, first watch a traditional hot water circulating system with pump, but does not explain the description, the second link below shows a direct and indirect boiler type with all the necessary pipes.
However, without me actually available to your system, it is difficult to give an answer to your question based on your description, I've never met a pump supplying water from the bottle into the inlet cold water.
Happy reading these links because they can help identify the operation of your system.
May have a number of functions, to prevent stratification, which is the separation of hot and cold water in the tank. However, it can run hot water in the hot water system will be available immediately, so that when a user opens a hot water tap is hot water savings.
This is a pump delayering. It aims to ensure that the entire contents of the bottle is heated to the required temperature, usually 60 degrees to prevent Legionella and other organisms to survive in the system. (Legionella colonization still up to about 55 °)
This is usually done on the supply of hot water for use by persons, namely bath tubs, sinks, showers, sinks etc.and not for central heating. (Spa baths are particularly sensitive.)
Note;
If your sink faucets are nearby, or there is a loop of pipe to their service, you can have hot water tap. If this is the case, and the water is boiling (60 Deg or nearby), you can get a clean mixing valve to lower the temperature. (Health and safety at work and all that jazz .........)
