Industrial Air Conditioner

Industrial Air ConditionerAt temperatures outside will be an industrial air conditioner freeze?

I'm in college and of course I live in a dormitory, the problem is incredibly hot, and universities States policy not to turn it on for fear of frost cooling unit if its under 40 degrees outside overnight.

I want to know if this claim is valid. My dad works with some of refrigeration and my understanding of things, this is just complete shit Bull .. someone with experience in the field please?

They could be using a water tower to cool the refrigerant. This type is generally used in commercial applications. Thus, the college is probably right. Regards, Dale

Some cooling systems for commercial use of chilled water for cooling systems. You will see a water tower on the outside using water flowing over the condensing coils instead of a fan to blow ambient air over the coils (like most AC units at home) .

Some other cooling systems to commercial use of closed circuit of ice water (with antifreeze glycol) that does not freeze under normal weather conditions.

Then, without looking at the actual unit, I agree with the college.
