Volkswagen of America, Inc., partners with Score International Volkswagen of America, Inc., recently announced a multi-year partnership with SCORE International to become the official vehicle of SCORE and the six-race SCORE Desert series.
Volkswagen has made its official announcement at the conference pre-race at the 39th annual Tecate SCORE Baja 500, which is the third race of the 2007 series. Volkswagen and SCORE officials were present to make the announcement.
In reality this is not the first time that Volkswagen has partnered with SCORE International way back in 1973 Volkswagen Thing has played a major role in the first three years of the SCORE racing series. This paved the way for a number of solid finishes future by Volkswagen products in a number of categorical divisions.
For this weekend more of a fan Flex Lite will be necessary because it will be hot, hot, hot! Volkswagen formal commissioning of two entries in his famous Factory Team Dakar Rally for the first time. The two turbo-diesel Volkswagen Race Touareg 2s will compete in a special SCORE International Truck Class, which begins between the score Trophy Truck and Class 1 vehicles. The Race Touareg 2s must be conducted by American Mark Miller and South African Giniel de Villers. Miller has won the SCORE Trophy-Truck class twice in the SCORE Baja 500 for Dakar rally this year, he ranked fourth while de Villiers has won four stages on the rally and was able to finish in 11th position overall.
The Volkswagen Race Touareg 2 is powered by a line 2.5-liter five-cylinder TDI engine with a turbocharger with intercooler two floors, and boost 285 horsepower and 440 lb-ft. torque. The engine was placed longitudinally behind the front suspension and transfer power to a six-speed sequential gearbox sprints. A drive system permanent four-wheel drive has three mechanical differentials with viscous locking which offer better traction.
SCORE International has also announced that unofficial checkpoint passing times must be posted on www.score-international.com weekend 39th annual Tecate SCORE Baja 500. RallyTrack.com Lakewood, California will provide technology for each of the checkpoints of four official SCORE race in which will include specially designed, robust satellite communications system to relay the unofficial passing time of each vehicle depending on the category, mark the transactions as well as data on the SCORE website listing.
The computer system RallyTrack.com update data on the score site every 10 minutes. The same data will be displayed in the arrivals area of the race. SCORE International and SCORE Radio in association with Blue C Communications has launched one minute 90 shows bi-weekly online. The show is being hosted by Cameron Steele and Sal Fish will serve as a direct source of information, race updates and interviews for the SCORE Desert racing community.
