How do I shut a window air conditioner unit for use as a portable unit or on foot? I have my eye on a 10,000 BTU unit 115 which is affordable (phones are not real). I have windows of this apartment that did not allow for editing real. I think in a styrofoam case plywood / but I'm not sure of the safety and dropwise condensation. I was unable to find plans online. I'm just trying to cool a bedroom. The unit that I will, I just want to insulate against heat and noise as much as possible (the drip withouth ruin the case). The window unit is an LG Electronics 10,000 BTU Window Air Conditioner with Remote Control Model LWHD1006R.
I am not intimidated by the project, I just want to make sure I covered all the bases. Wiss I use it about two months and want that window mounted in the future.
Thank you.
You can not put a free standing AC in the room, ti should be able to draw outside air into the cabinet e blow through the condenser coils and the discharge to the outside. A separate unit would actually heat the room when it is not cool the compressor and engine heat.
Building a box with the screws on the pebbles at the bottom would be a good idea. For condensate, your Board has a pot at the bottom you need to tip ir back and maybe do a little tip for the condensate to flow only one location. I imagine that you're goig to connect a drain, so something like a sheet pan or bread pan - round could end up in the thing. you along long enough over the empty saucepan. You really do not need much for a front and rear, but the top and bottom as most carriers will need the AC & BK ft exposed for cooling and ventilation Hot AC. you do not use styrofoam inside, warm air has to go somehwere and it will go into the room, but you can move HQ near you it will be blowing on you. I've done in the past. mean rises from the upper part will be hot and seated, you'll be fresher and it will take moisture from the air support. \
Insulation foam for noise e can help, but if you added something like a dryer duct that goes out the window, then the heat will still be there.
