How to Set a programmable thermostat in hot weather If you want to reduce costs on your electricity bill and save energy, a setback thermostat is exactly what you need. Honeywell and other manufacturers produce high-programmable thermostats that can help you manage your home more efficiently. Here are some tips to define a program as thermostats thermostat in hot weather to run your air conditioner efficiently.
Step 1
Learn how to program your thermostat manually by reading the printed instructions provided with your programmable thermostat. Do not worry if you can not find them - just an Internet search for the name of the model (eg, Honeywell RTH230B or RiteTemp 6022) to find instructions online.
Step2

Step3
Increasing the temperature of at least 7 F when you go to work. If there are others in your household, use the time the last person leaves for work / school.
Step 4
Lower the temperature back to the standard temperature when you return home for the day (or time of the first person in the household back home). Consider setting this time half an hour or two before returning home to cool down before returning home.
Step 5
Raise the temperature a few degrees at bedtime. If you prefer a cool house at night, you can skip that step, or consider using fans to cool the room.

- Most ENERGY STAR qualified programmable thermostats are pre-programmed with a recommended schedule. You can adjust these settings to suit your needs.
